Below is a teaching plan based on “To Know God” tailored for your outdoor park setting, and your group’s desire for Christ-centered spiritual growth and from SSNet Lesson 2: https://ssnet.org/lessons/26b/less02.html

🌿 Sabbath School Teaching Plan — April 11, 2026

Lesson 2: To Know God
Memory Text: John 17:3
Theme: Knowing God means knowing His character — love, holiness, truth, justice, and presence.

🌄 SABBATH INTRO (At the Park)

Opening Thought
Invite everyone to look around the park quietly for 30 seconds.
Say:
“Everything you see — light, breath, life, beauty — came from Someone. This week is about knowing that Someone.”

Nature Icebreaker — “Where Do You See God’s Character?”

Ask each person to point to something in nature that reveals something about God’s character, ideally to them personally (strength, gentleness, creativity, order, care, etc.). See if you can go through the whole alphabet.

📘 DAY-BY-DAY DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
(3–5 per day, including 1–2 current-events connections)

🌅 SUNDAY — Misrepresenting God (Genesis 3:1–5)
Key idea: Satan’s first attack was on God’s character.

Discussion Questions

  1. What lies about God’s character did the serpent tell Eve?
  2. Where do you see God’s character misrepresented today — in media, politics, religion, or culture?
  3. How can churches unintentionally misrepresent God’s character?
  4. Current Events: How do conspiracy theories, misinformation, or political propaganda distort people’s view of God?
  5. Nature Tie-In: Look at something small (a leaf vein, an ant, a pebble). What does its design reveal about God’s attention to detail?

🌄 MONDAY — God Is Holy (Leviticus 20:26; 1 Samuel 2:2)
Key idea: Holiness is God’s otherness — His purity, goodness, and love.

Discussion Questions

  1. What does “holy” mean in practical, relational terms?
  2. How does God’s holiness make His love more meaningful?
  3. What does it mean for us to be holy in daily life?
  4. Current Events: How does a holy God call us to respond to corruption, injustice, or moral confusion in society?
  5. Nature Tie-In: Find something in nature that is “set apart” — a unique tree, a solitary flower. What does it teach about holiness?

🌤️ TUESDAY — God Is Love (1 John 4:7–19)
Key idea: Love is not just something God does — it is who He is.

Discussion Questions

  1. How does knowing God’s love change how we see ourselves?
  2. What fears does God’s love drive out in your life?
  3. How does God’s love shape how we treat the vulnerable (Prov. 29:7; 31:8–9)?
  4. Current Events: Where do you see love being replaced by fear, anger, or division in society?
  5. Nature Tie-In: Observe how trees provide shade or how plants support ecosystems. What does this teach about God’s self-giving love?

🌾 WEDNESDAY — Creator God (Genesis 1:1; 2:7)
Key idea: God is powerful, intentional, and personal.

Discussion Questions

  1. Why did God form humans by hand instead of speaking us into existence?
  2. What does being made in God’s image reveal about our worth and purpose?
  3. How does creation reveal God’s character?
  4. Current Events: How does the modern world’s view of human identity differ from the biblical view of being created in God’s image?
  5. Nature Tie-In: Touch the soil. What does it mean that God formed humans from the ground and breathed life into us?

🌙 THURSDAY — Jesus Reveals the Father (John 14:9; Matt. 1:23; Matt. 28:20)
Key idea: Jesus is the clearest picture of God.

Discussion Questions

  1. What does Jesus show us about what God is really like?
  2. How does “God with us” change how we face suffering or uncertainty?
  3. What distorted pictures of God does Jesus correct?
  4. Current Events: How does Jesus’ character challenge the way Christians engage in political or cultural conflicts?
  5. Nature Tie-In: Look at the way light falls through the trees. How does Jesus bring clarity to our understanding of God?

🌌 FRIDAY — Knowing God Personally
Key idea: Eternal life begins now — in relationship with God.

Discussion Questions

  1. What spiritual practices help you know God personally?
  2. What part of God’s character has become clearer to you this week?
  3. How can you reflect God’s character to someone in your life this week?
  4. Current Events: Where does the world most need a revelation of God’s character of love right now?
  5. Nature Tie-In: End by looking at the sky. What does its vastness say about God’s presence and nearness?

🎨 INTERACTIVE ACTIVITIES (No Prep, Nature-Friendly)

  1. “Name Swap in 1 Corinthians 13” (Earnhardt’s suggestion)
    Read 1 Corinthians 13:4–7.
    Replace “love” with “God.”
Then replace “love” with your own name.
Discuss: Where does my character align with God’s? Where does it not?

  1. “Silent 3-Minute Creation Meditation”
    Walk silently for 3 minutes.
Ask: “God, what part of Your character do You want me to see?”
    Share insights afterward.

  1. “Character of God Scavenger Hunt”
In pairs, find examples in nature that illustrate:
  • God’s creativity
  • God’s care
  • God’s power
  • God’s gentleness
  • God’s order

Share with the group.
